PETRA

We were fortunate to arrive early enough in the afternoon to do the “Night Walk” along the Siq (the narrow canyon) from Wadi Musa to the Treasury in Petra. The entire way and the area in front of the Treasury were lit with candles, in paper bags. Simple, but a unique and spectacular effect, like Chinese laterns along the ground.

The treasury, at the end of the narrow entranceway to Petra. It’s the middle east. You there’s always camels, waiting to give tourists a ride.

Fortunately all that mud washes off; the salt concentration makes the water so dense anyone can float in it without effort.
